KARTABYA, a collective of dedicated development professionals and researchers, has been at the forefront of transformative initiatives for over three decades. Since its inception, KARTABYA has actively engaged in diverse development endeavours spanning health, sanitation, education, livelihoods, gender, governance, and social inclusion.

With a dedicated investment of over two and a half decades in community-level initiatives in 12 urban slums of Bhubaneswar and the rural district of Keonjhar in the areas of Non-Formal Education, Vocational Education for the Women, Health and Sanitation, through partnership with the Government of Odisha, KARTABYA has now broadened its reach to the tribal districts of Mayurbhanj and Kalahandi. In these regions, the organization is steadfast in its commitment to enhancing local self-governance through the promotion of active community participation. KARTABYA seeks to empower communities, especially those in remote areas, to proficiently monitor the delivery of crucial public services and entitlements, encompassing food ration, free schooling, basic health services, and sanitation.Additionally, a pivotal focus of the organization is the diversification and expansion of livelihood opportunities for the communities it serves.

Furthermore, beyond its grassroots engagement, KARTABYA has significantly contributed to the state and national dialogues on various aspects of public policy and developmental governance. The organization remains steadfast in its mission to drive positive change and advance the well-being of communities at the last mile. The experts associated with the organization are having more than two decades of experience on programme implementation and public policy research.

The organization has established collaborations with esteemed international and national non-governmental organizations such as ActionAid International, Oxfam India, Bernard Van Leer Foundation (BVLF), Welthungerhilfe Germany, Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP), and the Governments of Odisha and India. These collaborations focus on diverse themes such as sustainable livelihoods, education, health, and gender.Additionally, partnerships with renowned research affiliates, including Azim Premji University, Government of Odisha, ICRA Analytics Limited, NABARD Consultancy Services (NABCONS), Athena Infonomics, EDUCO, among others, have been pivotal.
